《Unit 5 Films Period 1》教案
Teaching objectives:
A①knowledge objective: To understand vocabulary relating to films;
A②ability objective: To learn how to express one’s wishes.
B③emotional objective: To have a better understanding of the film indus
2、try and cultivate their cultural sense.
Teaching points:
①vocabulary: daydreaming, realistic, actor, actress, superstar, director, producer, cameraman, lighting manager, make-up artist, scriptwriter, costume designer, set designer, film editor, action, good take, stand by, take two.

②sentence structure: I would like to be…/I would like to do …
I’d rather be… /I’d rather do …
Teaching emphasis and difficulties:
A①the usage of the verb ‘be’ ; /stop doing /stop to do
B②the use of object clause;
B③the sentence structure ‘I’d rather be… ’.

Step 1: Show students the picture of Hollywood on the ppt and then have a discussion of the films.
The teacher can ask questions like:
Do you know where the place is?
What is Hollywood famous for?
Do you like films?
Can you name some of Hollywood films? (Impossible, Avatar, The
5、 Pursuit of Happiness, Roman Holiday…)
Why do you like it?
Step 2: Ask the students to name some terms or buzz words relating to the film industry. (If they can’t say in English, Chinese is ok.)
The teacher explains them one by one in simple English. Then fill in the blanks in Part A, Page 77.

Then suppose you are the director, what you will say in the following situations:
①The actors are ready for the performance: _______.
②The actors have done a good job:________.
③The actors didn’t do a good job: ________.
④The actors start to perform: ________.
Step 3: Ask the students to na
7、me their favourite actor/actress or the director on the basis of students’ knowledge relating to the film industry.
Form a group of four and discuss the reasons. Then the teacher chooses some groups to say out their opinions.
The teacher can choose some and classify them on the blackboard.

The teacher explains the dialogue in Part B.
Step 5: Work in pairs and then ask the students to act the dialogue out.

Questions are like:
What is Eddie dreaming about?
Why Hobo is very lucky?
What does Hobo ask Eddie to do?
Eddie says he is too good for TV. What does he mean?
Step 7: Read after the tape and try to memorize the dialogue.

The teacher comments on their performance.
Step 9: Have a review of the contents in this period.
