Teaching Goals:
1. To talk about varieties of English
2. To read about the history of English and know about its development
3. To activate the Ss in classroom activities
Teaching aids: a recorder, a multi-media comp

Important point: 1. To help the Ss get into a good habit of reading and develop the Ss’ ability of finding the key sentence.
Teaching Procedures:
Lead in
1. Greetings
2. A small quiz : Show some national flags of some countries and ask the Ss to do a small quiz to distinguish them and
3、 find out the languages spoken in these countries.
