10、導時間狀語從句的 after“在……之后”,before “在……之前”;when“當……時候”(后面可跟延續(xù)性或短暫性動詞);while“當……時候”(后面只跟延續(xù)性動詞);as“一邊……一邊”;until“直到……才”;since“自從”;as soon as“一……就”等。 Look before you leap. 三思而后行。 I will call you as soon as I get there. 我一到那兒就給你打電話。 When I came in, he was reading a book. 我進來時他在看書。 While he was reading a b

11、ook, I came in. 他在看書的時候我進來了。 I won't tell you the truth until you tell me the reason. 你不告訴我原因,我就不會告訴你真相。 2. 引導地點狀語從句的 where, wherever“無論哪里”等。 Where there is a will, there is a way. 有志者,事竟成。 Wherever you go, whatever you do, I'll be here waiting for you. 不論你去哪里,不論你做什么,我將一直在這兒等你。 3. 引導條件狀語從句的 if“

12、如果”,unless“除非”等。 We will put off the sports meeting if it rains tomorrow. 如果明天下雨,我們就推遲運動會。 You won't make progress unless you study hard. 除非你認真學習,否則你不會取得進步。 注意: if 引導的條件狀語從句,主句用一般將來時,從句用一般現(xiàn)在時,即“主將從現(xiàn)”。 4. 引導原因狀語從句的連詞:because, since, as, for (1) because 常指人們不知道的原因,語氣最強,后面接句子。 because of 后面接名詞或動名詞

13、。 He didn't go to school yesterday because he was ill. 昨天他沒去上學,因為他病了。 He didn't go to school yesterday because of his illness. 昨天他沒去上學,因為他病了。 (2) since 表示對方已經知道的,既成事實的理由,語氣較弱。 Since water is very important, we should try our best to protect it. 既然水非常重要,我們就應該盡力保護它。 (3) as 表示十分明顯的原因,一般說明因果關系,語氣更弱

14、。 As it is raining heavily, you'd better not go out. 雨下得太大了,你最好別出去。 (4) for 表示原因時語氣最弱,只表示一種推論,只能放在后面,此時 for 連接的是并列句。 I think it rained last night, for the ground is wet. 我想昨晚下雨了,因為地面是濕的。 5. 引導目的狀語從句的 so that, in order that“為了,以便”等。 引導目的狀語從句時,常常會出現(xiàn) can/ could 等情態(tài)動詞。 The English teacher speaks sl

15、owly so that/ in order that we can understand him. 為了讓我們能聽懂,英語老師說得很慢。 6. 引導讓步狀語從句的 though/ although“雖然”,even if/ though“即使”等。 Though he is poor, he is happy most of the time. 盡管他不富有,但大部分時候他很開心。 “I will support you to go to school, even though we are poor. ” my father said. 我父親說:“即使我們沒錢,我們也要支持你上學

16、?！? 7. 引導結果狀語從句的 so…that, such…that“如此……以至”等。 so 后面接形容詞或副詞,such 后接名詞。 名詞前如有 many, much, few, little 等詞修飾時,要用“so … that”。 “such + a/ an + adj. +單數(shù)名詞”可換成“so + adj. + a/ an +單數(shù)名詞”。 It is such an interesting movie that I want to see it again. 這部電影太好了,我還想再看一遍。 It is so interesting a movie that I want t

17、o see it again. 這部電影太好了,我還想再看一遍。 8. 引導比較狀語從句的 than, as … as 等。 He is not as/ so tall as you are. 他沒你那么高。 考點三 個別連詞的特殊用法 不能同時出現(xiàn)在一個句子里的連詞: 1. because 和 so Because he is sleepy, he wants to sleep. =He is sleepy, so he wants to sleep. 他瞌睡了,他要睡覺。 2. though/ although 和 but Though he is tired, he
