And, most of all—especially as you get older—you need strength simply to stand up without falling over. As we age, we progressively lose muscle mass, which can make us weaker. __3__ We
3、 might have trouble going up and down steps, picking up something heavy, even standing up from a seat. But while ageing is unavoidable, building muscle through strength training is meaningful. A programme that is becoming more and more commonly used is Starting Strength. The basic Starting Strength
4、 programme consists of four different lifts. Trainees learn these lifts step by step. __4__ Three times a week they perform three of the lifts. If they are successful in a period, they then add 2.25 kg in the next period. But barbell (杠鈴) lifting doesn't just offer physical strength; it also gives

15、師和同學(xué)的幫助下有了很大的進(jìn)步,并祝愿自己的學(xué)校以后會越來越好。 1.was spent 考查動詞的時(shí)態(tài)和語態(tài)。句意:時(shí)光飛逝,還有幾天就高考了,我很后悔以前花了很多時(shí)間玩電腦游戲。spend time (in) doing sth. “花費(fèi)時(shí)間做某事”。本句中的主語time與動詞spend之間是被動關(guān)系,根據(jù)時(shí)間狀語before可知,要用一般過去時(shí)。故填was spent。 2.that 考查強(qiáng)調(diào)句型。本句是強(qiáng)調(diào)句型,根據(jù)強(qiáng)調(diào)句型“It is/was+被強(qiáng)調(diào)部分+who/that+ ... ”的結(jié)構(gòu)可知填that。 3.to make 考查非謂語動詞。句意:正是在這個(gè)時(shí)刻,我才真正意識
16、到,盡我所能去彌補(bǔ)我沒有學(xué)到的知識是多么重要。to make up for在句子中作目的狀語,表目的要用動詞不定式,故填to make。 4.it 考查固定搭配。句意:我原來想當(dāng)然地認(rèn)為不努力學(xué)習(xí),我也能考上一所好大學(xué)。take it for granted that是固定句型,意為“認(rèn)為……是理所當(dāng)然的”。it指后面that從句的內(nèi)容,無詞匯意義。 5.failure 考查名詞。句意:但幾次失敗之后,我終于明白了“不勞則無獲”這句話。空處在句中作介詞of的賓語,所以要用名詞,故填failure。 6.faced 考查非謂語動詞?!癆lthough faced with a great
17、pressure ... ”是省略句,還原為“Although I am faced with a great pressure ...”。因?yàn)橹鲝木渲髡Z一致,所以從句的主語和系動詞可省略,而I與face之間是被動關(guān)系,故用過去分詞faced。face sb. with sth.或sb. be faced with ... 為固定搭配,意為“某人面臨……”。 7.confident 考查詞性轉(zhuǎn)換。句意:盡管面臨著巨大的壓力,但我仍然信心十足……設(shè)空處在句中作表語,用形容詞confident。 8.of 考查固定搭配。make good use of ... 為固定搭配,意為“充分利用……”
18、。 9.Lately 考查詞性轉(zhuǎn)換。句意:最近,在老師和同學(xué)的幫助下,我取得了很大的進(jìn)步。在句子中作狀語,修飾整個(gè)句子,故填Lately “最近”。 10.get 考查虛擬語氣。句意:愿我們的學(xué)校未來會越來越好!此處為may開頭的虛擬語氣表祝愿的用法。情態(tài)動詞后要用動詞原形,故填get。 Ⅲ.短文改錯(cuò) We students have been asking about our opinions on opening iPad classrooms.
