1、Module 5 Great People and Great Inventions of Ancient China
I. 教學(xué)內(nèi)容分析
本模塊以“Great People and Great Inventions of Ancient China”為話題,介紹了中國古代的三位哲學(xué)家、他們的學(xué)說以及五項重要的古代發(fā)明。通過本模塊的學(xué)習(xí),使學(xué)生掌握與話題有關(guān)的詞匯、句型及語法,提高閱讀能力和口語表達能力,并能運用所學(xué)知識,闡述自己對人或事物的看法及觀點。同時,通過本模塊學(xué)習(xí)培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的文化意識,增強民族自豪感。
Introduction通過詞匯練習(xí),簡要介紹中國古代思想家及
2、他們的思想,為本模塊的學(xué)習(xí)特別是“閱讀”做準(zhǔn)備。該部分共有四個活動,第一個活動學(xué)習(xí)單詞,其余三個活動幫助學(xué)生鞏固記憶,學(xué)習(xí)使用所學(xué)單詞。
Reading and Vocabulary課文部分介紹了中國古代三位思想家及其學(xué)說,圍繞課文教學(xué),教材設(shè)計了四個與課文內(nèi)容和詞匯有關(guān)的練習(xí)。第一、第二個練習(xí),幫助學(xué)生理解詞匯在語境中的意義。第三個練習(xí),幫助學(xué)生理解課文內(nèi)容、捕捉細節(jié)信息。第四部分,和Introduction部分第二個練習(xí)呼應(yīng),幫助學(xué)生把握孔子的思想。通過這些練習(xí),幫助學(xué)生熟悉課文、學(xué)會使用與課文有關(guān)的詞匯、句型,并能夠?qū)θ宋镞M行簡要介紹。
Grammar 1該部分介紹了有關(guān)系詞wher
3、e, when, whose, who, which 引導(dǎo)的定語從句。教材安排了四個練習(xí)活動:前兩個活動通過觀察、理解課文中的例句,幫助學(xué)生認識定語從句,理清概念;第三、四個活動提供學(xué)生練習(xí)的機會,幫助學(xué)生在運用中把知識轉(zhuǎn)化為能力。
Function該部分介紹了交際功能“陳述理由”(giving reasons)的語句,有兩部分,第一部分,要求學(xué)生認識句型結(jié)構(gòu)。第二部分,通過改寫練習(xí),使學(xué)生對兩個句型初步掌握。兩種相關(guān)句型是:
1) I like reading about ancient China because the philosophy is very interesting.

2) The reason why I like reading about ancient China is that the philosophy is very interesting.
Vocabulary and Speaking通過該部分練習(xí)學(xué)習(xí)一組有關(guān)社會道德方面的詞匯,對學(xué)生進行說的訓(xùn)練的同時滲透道德教育,使他們學(xué)會表達自己的觀點并闡述理由。
Pronunciation該部分介紹了連讀的一種現(xiàn)象:前一個詞的尾元音與后一個詞的首元音跨越字界,緊密依靠產(chǎn)生近似 / j /或者/ w / 那樣的音質(zhì)。要求學(xué)生聽錄音,認識這種現(xiàn)象,然后進行朗讀模仿。通過該部分練習(xí)幫助學(xué)生提高辨音
5、能力及口語表達能力。
Listening and Vocabulary通過聽有關(guān)“中國古代發(fā)明”一段材料,培養(yǎng)學(xué)生利用現(xiàn)有信息對所聽內(nèi)容進行預(yù)測的能力、準(zhǔn)確獲取信息的能力,并完成相關(guān)練習(xí)。
Speaking該部分是Listening and Vocabulary 的一個延伸,通過談?wù)?0世紀的有關(guān)發(fā)明,對模塊內(nèi)容進行拓展,鍛煉學(xué)生的口頭表達能力。
Grammar 2該部分學(xué)習(xí)“介詞+ which / whom”引導(dǎo)的定語從句。共有四個部分,前兩個活動通過連線、比較幫助學(xué)生認識這種語法現(xiàn)象,后兩個活動為鞏固性練習(xí),分別進行了仿寫和改寫練習(xí)。
Writing通過完成相關(guān)練習(xí),幫助學(xué)生初步認
6、識英語中論文的結(jié)構(gòu)及常用詞語,學(xué)習(xí)寫作論文,闡述自己對人對物的看法。
Everyday English通過補全對話的形式,使學(xué)生理解并掌握所列出的五個日常用語。
Cultural Corner該部分介紹了歐洲工業(yè)革命的歷史背景及其影響,幫助學(xué)生擴大知識面。
Task 該部分是對本模塊的復(fù)習(xí)和應(yīng)用,讓學(xué)生寫一篇介紹中國古代名人的文章,介紹其生平事跡及思想。
Module File 幫助學(xué)生對本模塊的知識進行復(fù)習(xí)歸納,對自己的學(xué)習(xí)進行總結(jié)和檢驗。

Ask Ss to answer the following questions to lead them to say sth about Chinese

(1) There are many great philosophers in ancient China. Can you say some?
(2) Can you say something about the ideas of Confucius, Mencius and Mozi?
(3) What are the four great inventions of China?
(4) Can you say the influence of the Chinese four great inventions?

(1) Ask Ss to read the vocabulary of Module 5 on page 115 individually.
(2) Ask a student to read the words to the class. Give out corrections if there are any mistakes.
(3) Ask Ss to practice reading the words, and then ask them to read together; make sure they can read them c
12、orrectly.
3. Practice
(1) Ask Ss to read the words in Activity 1 on page 41 and make sure that they know their meanings.
(2) Ask Ss to fill in the blanks in Activity 1 by using some of the words in the box. Then call back the answers.
(3) Ask Ss to go over the statements in Activity 2 and tick t

4. Speaking
(1) Ask Ss to discuss the following questions in groups: What do you know about Confucius, Mencius and Mozi? What ideas do you agree with most? And why?
(2) Ask some of them to express their opinions following the example in Activity 3 on page 41.
