Step2: While-reading Task1: Fast-reading Ask the students to read the passage quickly and silently to divide 5paragraphs into 3 parts ,then get the general idea of each part. Part1(Para.1) : Li Ning was a great sportsman. Part2(Para.2-4):Li Ning was successful in business. Part3(Para. 5): Li Ning’dream came true. Task2:Careful-reading Ask the students to read the 3 parts in different ways to get a better understanding by the following questions: Part1 Why do you think Li Ning was successful? Because①He was called “the Prince of Gymnast”. ②He has won many prizes when he retired. ③He was believed one of the greatest sportsman in the twenties. Part2 Li Ning was successful in business. Result: Li Ning sportsclothes Reasons①right time②lower price③attractive designs Successful examples: ①Li Ning won more than fifty per cent of the national market in just a few years. ②A Li Ning product is purchased every ten seconds. ③The clothes are worn not only by the athletesbut alsostudents and other people;not only Chinese but also foreigners. ④The company has grown internationally. ⑤Chinese athlets will be wearing Li Ning tracksuits. Part3 What is Li Ning’dream? Ss:To open a school for gymnasts to help young people to achieve their sporting ambitions. Step3: Post-reading l?????? Ask the students to discuss in group of 4 the following questions: Topic1:Do you think Li Ning is successful? Topic2: Why is Li Ning so successful both in sport an business? Topic3:What have you learned from Li Ning? Topic4:What does Li Ning advertising slogan say?How d you understand it? Time for students to discuss ,then share the ideas in the whole class. S1:In my opinion,Li Ning is a sucessful sportsman as well as a successful business man.So I admire him very much. S2:I can”t agree with you ang more. I admire him too especially his spirit---Do not give up easily. S3:Yes,and his ambition to help young people to achie-ve their sporting ambitions is also great.As a famous gymnast,he thinks not only for himself,but also for others, for our country.
