Teaching difficulities:Talk about the past Teaching Tools:Recorder Teaching Steps: Step one : Warm up sing a song. Bring magazine pictures of people to class.Hold up individual pictures and have the students use adjectives to describe their physical appearance. Put the students into small groups.Give one or two pictures to each group and have the students describe the people. Step two:Listen and point Have the student look at the pictures in the Students Book. Ask questions in Chinese,e.g. What are Amy and Lingling looking at in Picture1?What is Amy pointing to in Picture3? What is Linglings mother showing the girls in the last picture? Step three:Listen and say Write the nowand then informations on the board. Tell the students that you are going to say,Nowor then and then individual students will have to make an appropriate statement about Lingling . They should use the above table as a guide. Step four:Point and say Tell the students to bring a photo of themselves or their relatives to class.The photo should show them or their relatives when they were young.If they dont have any photos,they should draw a picture. Tell the students to write three or four sentences about the photo. In class,invite some of the students to the front to show their pictures and to read out their sentences. Have the Ss say the chant. 4. Have the Ss valve their time. Teaching procedures Step I Warmer 1. Have the Ss retell the story. 2. Check up Ss’ homework.( Activity IV) 3. Get the Ss to act out the dialogue. (Have the Ss interest in English) Step II Presentation 1. Leading Describe the photos or pictures with paring the present and the past. 2. Tell the Ss “wasn’t”and “was not” are the same. And “weren’t” is the same as “were not”. 3. Play the tape and have the Ss listen and find out the adjectives. And report them.( Review the adjectives and find out the differences) 4. Learn the chant. First, get the Ss to look at the pictures and describe them. (A small chick and two big fat hens.) Then play the spoken version of the chant and get the Ss to repeat the words then chant. Step III Drill and Practice 1. Listen and repeat. 2. Chant and do the mimes at the same time. 3. Have the Ss do Activity IV. Look at the pictures. pare “now” and “then”. Then describe the pictures. (Cultivate the Ss’ oral English.) 4. Do the Activity Book. Step IV Game Have the Ss work in groups. Sa will act out Sb who was in many years ago. Then Sc will introduce the two Ss. Find out some changes with the past and present tense. Step V Homework 1.
