Id like to travel to the places in the world as many as possible. And Ill stay at the best hotels and then eat the best food. I think Ill have a wonderful time." "Thats very interesting." Paul said. With these words, he turned to the other man, saying, "And what about you?" "Ill tell you a secret," Allan said. "I always want to be a racing driver. So if I have only three months to live, the first thing Id like to do is to sell my house. With the money Ill buy the fastest car in the world. Maybe I can enter all the big motor races. " Then he laughed, "I might even end up with (以......而告終) a world champion." "Now its your turn," Allan went on. "If your doctor tells you the bad news, what would you most like to do?" Are you ready if one hits your neighborhood next week? Find out what you need to do now before it is too late. Let’s take an earthquake for example. During an earthquake, get under a strong object like the kitchen table. Dont leave the building during the shaking, or you might be hurt by falling objects from the outside of the building. When you are in bed during the night and an earthquake happens, simply roll off the bed. There will be a safe void around the bed. If you are watching TV and you cannot easily run away by getting out through the door or window, then lie down and curl up(蜷伏) next to a sofa, or a large chair. Never go to the stairs. The stairs are likely part of the building to be broken. Even if the stairs are not destroyed by the earthquake, they may fall down later when people run down. Try to get into an open area away from trees, buildings, walls, advertisement boards and power lines if you are outdoors. If you are driving when an earthquake suddenly happens, just stay in your car until the shaking ends. However, if the footbridge falls and breaks your car,get out of it and sit or lie next to it. All the broken cars have voids 3 feet high next to it. (1) What should you do if you are in a building when an earthquake happens? A . Rush out quickly B . Sit in the kitchen C . Stay below strong objects D . Go down the stairs (2) The underlined word “void” in Paragraph 3 means“_______”. A . space B . seat C . distance D . sign (3) If you are inside a car when there is a sudden earthquake, you should _______. A . get out of it B . keep inside it C . move away fast D . stay under the footbridge 19. (8分) (2015八上永嘉期中) 閱讀下面短文,從每小題所給的A、B、C、D四個(gè)選項(xiàng)中選出最佳選項(xiàng)。 (C) Zhalong is a nature reserve in Heilongjiang in northeast China. It is one of the worlds most important wetlands. The reserve offers food and places to live in for wildlife. It is an ideal home for different kinds of plants, fish and birds. Many birds live comfortably in Zhalong Nature Reserve all year round, but some only stay there for a short time. There are many fish in the wetlands, and the birds can easily catch them for food. Zhalong Nature Reserve is an important living area for red-crowned cranes. There are not many red-crowned cranes in the world. Some of them live in Zhalong. Some people want to change the wetlands to make more space for farms and buildings. This means there will be less and less space for wildlife. More and more birds are in danger because they do not have enough living space. Many of them died. The Chinese government wants to protect these endangered* birds, and they can be safe in Zhalong. Every year, a lot of visitors go to Zhalong to watch birds. This year, members of our Birdwatching Club are going to study the different kinds of birds in Zhalong and the changes in their numbers. We do a bird count once a year. We are now inviting middle school students to help. We need more people to help us count and do something to help the birds. Many people do not understand the importance of the wetlands. We hope this information will help them understand and make them do something to protect wildlife. (1) What does the underlined word "ideal" mean? A . 理想的 B . 危險(xiǎn)的 C . 擁擠的 D . 昂貴的 (2) Why are more and more birds in danger? A . Because visitors watch them. B . Because many of them died. C . Because people have less and less place. D . Because their living place is less and less. (3) Which of the follow sentences is Not True? A . Some birds go to Zhalong for a short stay. B . There are many red-crowned cranes in the world. C . Zhalong Nature Reserve is the comfortable home of many birds. D . Birds can find food easily in Zhalong. (4) The purpose(目的) of the article is to _________. A . ask more visitors to visit Zhalong Nature Reserve B . ask people to protect wetlands and wildlife C . stop people from watching birds in Zhalong Nature Reserve D . make people around the world know the Birdwatching Club 20. (6分) (2019門頭溝模擬) 閱讀下列短文,根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,從短文后各題所給的A、B、C、D四個(gè)選項(xiàng)中,選擇最佳選項(xiàng)。 Is It Better to Read Books or Listen to Them? We often think how fast we learn something depends on how smart we are. If your brain is taking in material quickly, youre clever; if not, well, that doesnt say great things about your IQ. But science shows context (上下文) and technique (技術(shù)) actually play a big role in how fast we learn, and even small changes – like the way you use to read – can make a big difference. Audio (音頻的) books have plenty of advantages: you can enjoy them anywhere, even in the car, and not printing books saves trees. Poor readers also often find them more interesting. But according to the latest research, if your goal isnt to pass the time in traffic, but instead to learn something difficult, you should choose a physical book. In a recent opinion piece in the New York Times, psychology (心理學(xué)) professor Daniel T. Willingham mentioned a 2010 study where 48 students either read or listened to an article about child psychology. Although the students spent the same amount of time with their material and did about the same number of distracting (分散注意力) activities while they absorbed the information, they scored very differently on a 10-item quiz later. Generally, the readers scored 81 percent but while the listeners scored 59 percent. Why does listening vs reading material have such a great effect on learning? Willingham explains that first, most of us read more slowly than we listen (especially when pausing and rereading), and when youre trying to absorb new information, slower seems to be better. "About 10 to 15 percent of eye movements during reading are actually regressive – meaning the eyes are going back and re-checking," he explains to TIME. "This happens very quickly…" Second, books offer visual cues (可視線索) that help our brains organize and understand new information. Things like chapter breaks, subheadings, and lists help us in making sense of the material and understanding how it fits together. You lose all that when you go the audio way. The bottom line is simple: Dont feel shame about passing your time in traffic with an audio book. However, be aware of audios limitations when it comes to studying, and seriously consider choosing good old-fashioned reading instead. (1) According to the writer, you should choose to read a book to ________. A . take in the information B . pass the time in traffic C . learn something difficult D . organize new information (2) A "physical book" in Paragraph 2 probably means "________". A . an audio book B . a book about physics C . a book about computer D . a book made of paper or cloth (3) What can we learn from the passage? A . To read a book is better than to listen to it. B . Readers are cleverer than listeners. C . Reading books is a good way to pass time. D . How fast we learn depends on how smart we are. 四、 根據(jù)句意用括號(hào)中單詞的適當(dāng)形式填空, 使句子的意思完整、正確 (共5題;共14分) 21.
