Unit3 Fashion Reading教案 一、 章節(jié)分析(Reading section ) (一)綜述 本章節(jié)是關于“時尚”話題的學生演講。由于演講是出自學生自己觀察和經(jīng)歷的角度,并且“時尚”這一話題又從某種程度上貼近學生生活,因此學生對此話題應是比較敏感和熟悉的。教師可充分利用學生的興趣,與課文內(nèi)容相結(jié)合進行教學。 本課兩個任務: 1 學生通過對課文的學習,掌握一些核心詞匯,例如:illustrate, afford, keen, appreciate, waste, remind, effect, award等。 2 通過學習課文和拓展閱讀,使學生對時尚有正確的理解,能夠理智地區(qū)分時尚與盲目追求時尚的區(qū)別,并理解內(nèi)在美的重要性。 (二)閱讀目標 1 知識目標 學習課文中重點詞、詞組、句型和語法。 2 能力目標 通過閱讀了解時尚對不同人的重要性以及對經(jīng)濟和生態(tài)的重大影響。 3 情感目標 引導學生正確理解“時尚”這一概念,并能理解內(nèi)在美的重要。 (三)教學方法 采用任務型教學法組織教學,通過聽說,分組討論等具體活動,達到教學效果。 (四)重點和難點 1 詞匯學習 1) 核心詞匯 afford appreciate award culture fashion handle illustrate quality waste worth 2) 拓展詞匯 arcade blonde extravagant wig the Nobel Prize 3) 詞組和短語 bring along a piece of clothing afford sth. with one’s own savings be keen on search for a waste of time and money in the 1960s/1960’s close down remind sb. of the effect of sth. on… as a result judge…by… award sb. the Nobel Prize for Peace as usual 4) 句型學習 1. The more…, the more… 2. It is a waste of time and money doing… 教學設計(Teaching Designs) 教學內(nèi)容 教學實施建議 教學資源參考 Pre-reading 在這一階段,教師可通過以下步驟達到引入“時尚”這一話題的目的。 l 學生通過觀察課文P18上圖片, 完成 “What do you know about?” 回答相關問題。 l 學生分組討論:列舉目前中國在學生、婦女和男士中流行的東西。 具體提問的問題見教案[鏈接1] 《牛津英語教學參考》S2A While-reading 在此過程中,要求學生準確把握Debbie的演講所傳遞的關鍵信息,并且能跟隨Debbie的思路分析她論述觀點的論據(jù)和方法。在整體理解內(nèi)容的基礎上掌握課文中出現(xiàn)的重點詞匯。 l 通過課文P19上的兩幅圖片和Skimming使學生獲得本文的體裁,主題,人物等信息。 l 建議將Scanning部分的練習分為兩步:第一步采用課文P19練習,讓學生找到Debbie在演講中所提及的五個物品及其主人;第二步要求學生通過再次瀏覽全文得出一個初步的結(jié)論——Debbie列舉五個物品的目的分別什么,即,她要以此五個物品說明什么觀點。 l Further understanding: 在下一環(huán)節(jié)中, 要求學生針對之前得出的結(jié)論(Debbie演講中表達的五個想法)找到支持這些結(jié)論的關鍵詞、詞組和句子。這一設計幫助學生回顧課文主要內(nèi)容,在此基礎上 1)使學生熟悉本課的關鍵詞、詞組和句子;2)使學生了解argument與supporting ideas的關系。雖然本課的Writing部分是寫記敘文,但這對他們將來寫議論文將會有指導意義。 l Consolidation and conclusion: 1) 學生在理解全文基礎上分組討論:生活中對時尚不可或缺、不是太看重以及完全不看重的分別是哪類人群? 2)指導學生完成課文后的Scanning部分的其他練習。 Post-reading 針對課文最后 “Fashion is not the most important thing in life.”這一觀點,推薦學生課外閱讀補充材料(Wise Advice from Mother Teresa和Audrey Hepburn’s beauty tips) 安排學生討論: Mother Teresa與Audrey Hepburn的觀點有何異同?此二人前者根本不關心時尚,后者曾是明星、時尚人物,為何卻有相似的觀點? 以此來引出學生對內(nèi)在美的重要性的關注。 學生閱讀補充材料:見[鏈接2]和[鏈接3] [鏈接1] 說明: 本部分建議采用任務型閱讀教學方法。通過略讀、掃讀、細讀等不同手段來提高學生的閱讀理解能力,從而培養(yǎng)學生的閱讀技巧。以下是一份教案。 Teaching procedures Step One Lead-in I. Picture talk 1. Try to describe some of the clothes which the people are wearing. 2. Where and when will you see people wearing clothes like these today? 3. Which of these fashions do you like or dislike? 4. Imagine that you are going out in the evening with some of your friends. What might you wear or not wear? II. Group discussion 1. What is in fashion now in China among ______? 1)students 2)women 3)men Step Two Skimming & Scanning I. Skimming Skim the two pictures on P19 and the passage on P20, and do Exercise A. The teacher asks more questions. More questions for the students to consider and answer: 1. What is the topic of this passage? 2. How many aspects about fashion has Debbie mentioned? 3. Does Debbie think highly of fashion in all its aspects? II. Scanning Scanning task one: scan the passage and do Exercise B on P19 Scanning task two: scan again and find out what Debbie wants to illustrate with the five objects. Debbie brings… to illustrate that… a blouse a pair of trainers a blonde wig a top hat a little bag Step Three Further Understanding Students are required to find key words, phrases and even sentences in each paragraph to support the five arguments they have concluded in the previous step. Arguments Key words Phrases Sentences( if any) 1. Fashion is quite important to us. 2. Paying too much attention to fashion is just a waste of time and money. 3. Fashion is a big business. It is closely related to economy. 4. The bad effect of fashion on the natural world. 5. Fashion is not the most important thing in the world. What matters is what you have done for mankind. Step Four Consolidation and Conclusion I. Discussion: Based on their thorough understanding of the whole passage, students are required to discuss and get conclusions. (This is an open discussion) 1. Fashion is very important to (those who)____________ because_______________________. 2. Fashion is not so important to (those who) __________________ because ___________________. 3. Fashion is not important at all to (those who) ________________ because ___________________. II. Do Exercise C, D and E(P21-23). Step Five Assignment Students are given two materials to read. One is Audrey Hepburn’s Beauty Tips, and the other is Wise Advice from Mother Teresa. They are required to compare the two materials and try to find out 1. the similarity between Audrey Hepburn’s and Mother Teresa’s ideas. 2. the reason why they have similar ideas since the former is a lady who used to be in fashion and the latter is the one who has nothing to do with fashion.
