2019-2020年高中英語(yǔ) unit4 wildlife protection教案 新人教版必修2 ● Teaching Aims: (教學(xué)目標(biāo)) Knowledge aims: (知識(shí)目標(biāo)) Let the students know some basic information about the endangered animals and wildlife situation and protection. Ability aims: (能力目標(biāo) ) a. Encourage Ss to think and express their attitude towards the wildlife and the wildlife protection. b. Enhance Ss’ reading ability, such as skimming for general idea, scanning for specific information. Emotional aims: (情感目標(biāo) ) a. Help Ss understand the importance of the wildlife protection and make them be more active in the helping wildlife. b. Develop Ss’ sense of cooperative learning. ● Teaching Key and Difficult Points: (教學(xué)難點(diǎn)) a. Enhance the students reading skills in the passage. b. How to use the reading skills to make the passage better to understand.. ● Teaching methods:(教學(xué)方法) Task-based teaching and learning Co-operative learning Step 1: Lead-in (導(dǎo)入) Task 1: a petition of guessing game Show some hints on the screen for the students to have guess, what animal it is. Encourage Ss to discuss with their parners and then solve the question together. (Purpose:To enliven the atmosphere of the class and get the students to involve the class.) Task 2: discussion Tell them that the lovely animals are endangered. Set up the question to for the students to discuss: What on earth mainly cause these wild animals in danger of disappearing? Ss may mention the following reasons: Food shortage, pollution, destruction of habitats, and over-hunting. Meanwhile, teacher ask the question: How can we protect the wildlife? (Purpose:To arouse the students’ awareness of envoronment protecting.) Step 2: Reading Now let’s read the passage and see how Daisy learned to help wildlife. I: Fast Reading Task 1: skim for the general idea 1.Read the passage quickly and silently. try to find out the main idea. Then answer the following question: The passage is mainly about ______. A. some protection of wildlife B. a journey of a flying carpet C. Daisy’s wonderful experience with some animals Suggested answer: C 2.Ask the Ss to sum up the main idea by themselves, containing who, how, where, what… u Who is the character of the story? u How did she travel? u Which places did she travel to? u What animals did she visit? Suggested answer: Daisy took a flying carpet to travel and talked with some animals, which made her know the importance of the wildlife protection. Task 2: scan for specific informtion Finish the true( T ) or false ( F ) questions, and try to correct the false. 1. Daisy saw many antelopes in Tibet. 2. Daisy’s sweater was made of sheep wool. 3. The elephant used to be well protected in Zimbabwe. 4. The farmers in Zimbabwe get much money from the elephants and rhinos now. 5. This is a real story in Daisy’s life. Suggested answers: F F F T F Purpose:To train Ss to go through the passage quickly to get some special information neglect other information, by using the reading skill of skimming and scanning. II: Careful Reading Read the passage carefully and answer the following questions. Paragraph 1 1. How did the antelope feel? Sad. 2. Who is hunting and killing the Tibetan antelopes? People. 3. Why are people hunting and killing the Tibetan antelopes? In order to get the wool which is used to make sweaters. Paragraph 2 1. How did the elephant feel? The elephant felt excited. 2.How did life improve for the animals? Past: Farmers used to hunt them for destroying their farms. Now: The elephants are no longer killed by the farmers for that. 3.How did life improve for the farmers in Zimbabwe? The government helped and farmers make money from tourism. Paragraph 3&4 1.Why does the monkey rub itself? Because this protects it from mosquitoes. 2.Why is the thick rainforest important for animals? Because different kinds of animals can live together. Step 3: Post-reading What can we do to help endangered animals? Measures to protect the endangered animals: 1.Protect the environment 2.Build conservation zones 3.Forbid people to kill endangered animals 4.Collect money to protect them. Step 4: Homework assignment 1. Based on the discussion about what should we do to protect the wild animals? List your own opinions and organize your words to write a short passage about your solutions. 2. Choose one story from the reading passage and retell it.
