第三組 A Fraser Island is in Queensland,Australia, about 200 kilometres north of Brisbane. It is about 120 kilometres long and 240 kilometres wide.It is a very important island because it is completely made of sand.In fact,it is the largest sand island in the world. There is no airport on the island, but there is a long beach along the east coast.Planes arrive and leave from here. The sand makes unusual shapes. There are hills made of sand called sandblows.Nothing grows on them. They move one or two metres a year from the northwest towards the southeast of the island, getting bigger and bigger. At other places on the island, such as Rainbow Gorge,The Cathedrals and Red Canyon, the sandy rocks have different colours.Sometimes the rocks are so brown that they turn the sea brown, like coffee. Surprisingly, the sandy island has a lot of different plants and animals. There are dark forests—eucalyptus woods, beautiful flowers and over a hundred lakes. There are many kinds of birds, like owls and curlews. There are many animals there too, such as crocodiles, flying foxes and wild dogs called dingoes. About 500,000 people visit the island every year to see the island’s beauty and nature.People enjoy camping and hiking(徒步) there.Unluckily, the visitors create problems. They damage plants and frighten animals.Their sun cream(防曬霜) makes the water dirty. So it is necessary to manage the visitors. For example, people may not use motor boats or go fishing in the lakes, and they need official papers to drive there. Take a deep breath before your heart slows down again. Count from 1 to 10 slowly in your mind before you open your mouth. Then count another 10.Think about what to do or say before making a choice. Walk away from the place that makes you angry.Go somewhere else until you’ve thought about what you can do. Use your words to tell your feelings.Don’t hurt anyone with your hands or feet. Say what you feel in a low voice, not in a loud voice. Sometimes you need to do something to let those angry feelings out.For example, doing a chore that you hate is a very good idea.It can get rid of(消除) your anger and you can feel better when that chore has been done.In this way,you will make anger become something useful. C Dear Dad, Today I was at the shopping centre and I spent a lot of time reading the Father’s Day cards. But as I chose and read, and chose and read again,it seemed that not a single card said what I really wanted to say to you. You’ll soon be 84 years old,Dad,and you and I will have had 56 Father’s Days together.I didn’t think that you were too old.But the sad thing happened last week.I watched as you turned at the corner in your car.I didn’t realize at once that it was you because the man who was driving looked so elderly. Fifty years ago this spring,we planted carrots together in a garden in Charles City,Iowa. This week,we’ll plant carrots together again, perhaps for the last time but I hope not.I don’t understand why planting carrots with you is so important to me.Well,I don’t quite know how to tell you this,Dad...I don’t like carrots...but I like planting them with you. I guess what I’m trying to say,Dad,is what every son and daughter wants to say to their dad today.Praising a father on Father’s Day is about more than a dad who brings home money or shares a dinner. It’s more about a dad deeply loving children who know everything and won’t listen to anyone. It’s about sharing. It’s about loving someone more than words can say,and I wish that it would never end. Love, Jenny (B)9.Where did Jenny go today? A.A garden. B.A shopping centre. C.A cinema. D.A hospital. (B)10.How old is Jenny now? A.84. B.56. C.50. D.34. (D)11.What can we learn from Paragraph 3? D.The beginning of Father’s Day. D I’m Jenny.Nothing is cuter than my dog,Marley. He sleeps near my bed at night and gives me kisses every morning. He gets sad when I leave for school. But he’s always there waiting when I get home, ready to go for a walk or play a game. On a Christmas Eve(前夕),Marley walked with my family to a store. My mum tied him up outside. When we came out of the store,Marley had gone.My mum called the police to report that he had been stolen. We couldn’t find him anywhere.I was very sad.It was the worst Christmas Eve ever. That night,I didn’t sleep well.My cat seemed to know I was sad and hugged(擁抱) me to make me feel better. On Christmas morning,I woke up and called for Marley. Then I remembered that he had gone. Even though it was Christmas,I didn’t want presents.I didn’t want anything, except my friend. Then my mum got a phone call.Someone found him!A woman saw a man on the street trying to sell a scared(恐懼的) dog.She felt bad for the dog and used her own money(more than $200) to buy him.She took him to a vet(獸醫(yī)).The vet scanned(掃描) the dog for a microchip(芯片).The vet found our phone number in the microchip and called my mum. E It was Saturday again.Grace and Karen disliked Saturdays. That was another thing the twins had in common. They shared the same clothes and tied their hair in the same manner. In fact,it was hard for their classmates and teachers to tell them apart sometimes. Unlike their classmates, they had to get up early at seven every Saturday to prepare for their lessons.Grace had to attend the art lesson and Karen had to attend her ballet lesson.“How I wish I could do something different today,” said the twins with one voice. All at once,an idea came to Grace and Karen at the same time.“How would you like to be me for a day?” they asked each other. It seemed like a wonderful plan to them. After giving each other a description of their own friends.Grace put on Karen’s ballet dress while Karen put Grace’s brushes and paints into her bag. Then they left for their classes. When the art lesson started,Karen was lost.Unlike Grace,Karen was poor at drawing. When the art lesson finally ended,Karen didn’t dare to hand in her work. Meanwhile,Grace was struggling in the ballet class as well.As she had no idea about the dance steps, she had to follow her classmates blindly. As a result, she kept knocking into them.Their ballet teacher became impatient with her,“Karen, you should remember the basic steps. You can’t rely on copying what others are doing.” When Karen and Grace got home, they were tired out. They decided that they would never try to be someone else they were not.It seemed that the grass was not always greener on the other side. 18.When did the twins get up on Saturdays?(不超過(guò)5個(gè)詞) At seven on Saturdays. 19.What was the twins’ plan when they decided to do something different?(不超過(guò)10個(gè)詞) Their plan was to pretend to be the other one. 20.Why did the ballet teacher become impatient?(不超過(guò)10個(gè)詞) Because Grace couldn’t remember the basic steps well.- 1.請(qǐng)仔細(xì)閱讀文檔,確保文檔完整性,對(duì)于不預(yù)覽、不比對(duì)內(nèi)容而直接下載帶來(lái)的問(wèn)題本站不予受理。
