There are also moments when you are looking for something educational (教育的) yet funny and easy to do. With a few things and a little preparation, you can easily entertain (娛樂) and educate your children. Do you read any magazines with pictures? Keep them. They can make a funny family game. Sit with your children and look at the pictures. You can cut out interesting pictures and ask your children to lay (放置) them out. Use as many pictures as possible. For example, if it is a picture of a book, cut it out; even if it is an action, such as washing clothes, cut it out. Try to get as many different pictures as possible. In this game, you are going to use the pictures to let your children make up their own stories. Then take any kind of table, even the kitchen table, and let your child lay out the pictures any way they wish. They don’t need to use all of them, just as many as they want. After they have laid out the pictures, have them tell a story. If some pictures don’t fit in with their stories, don’t use them. You have to get a special two-year driving license before you can start. When you are learning, someone with a full license always has to be in the car with you because you aren’t allowed to drive the car on the road alone. You don’t have to go to a driving school –--- a friend can teach you. The person with you isn’t allowed to take the money for the lesson unless he’s got a teacher’s license. Before you are allowed to have a full license, you have to take a driving test. You can take a test in your own car, but it has to be fit for the road. In the test you have to drive round for about half an hour and then answer a few questions. If you don’t pass the test, you are allowed to take it again a few weeks later if you want to. In 1970 a woman passed her fortieth test after 212 driving lessons. When you’ve passed your test, you don’t have to take it again, and you are allowed to go on driving as long as you like. Britain’s oldest driver was a man who drove in 1974 at the age of 100. Before 1904 everyone was allowed to drive, even children. Then from 1904 car drivers had to have a license. But they didn’t have to take a test until 1935. On the early days of car driving, before 1878, cars weren’t allowed to go faster than four miles an hour, and someone had to lead the car with a red flag. 1. Which of the following is not necessary for a young man who wants to drive a car alone? A. He should reach the age of 17. B. He should get a special two-year driving license. C. He should learn to drive in a driving school. D. He should pass a driving test to get a full license 2. A person can’t take money for driving lessons unless he ________. A. has learnt to drive in a driving school. B. has a full driving license. C. has a full license and a teacher’s license. D. is given a special two-year driving license 3. In the driving test, one _____________. A. mustn’t drive his car, even though the car is fit for the road. B. is usually asked to drive on roads for some time. C. has to be examined only in car driving skills D. must drive round for more than an hour 4. Which of the following is not true? A. There is no limit to the age of a man who drives a car. B. C 2.C 3.B 4.D 5.A C Jack thought himself a basketball fan. He watched quite a lot of American NBA basketball games. Not only did he watch them, he spent much of his free time playing on the court too. Then came the final year of his middle school. All of his regular teammates stopped showing up on the court because they were simply too busy preparing for the high school entrance exam to play. He was, of course, under much stress himself, like everyone else. A good exam result meant a good high school; a mediocre(平庸的)score meant a mediocre school. Much was at stake. However, he loved basketball so much that he still found time to play, this time with a group of guys who were said to have skipped classes(逃課)before. Some of his teachers started worrying about him. They asked his mother to go to school to let her know that Jack was hanging out with problem kids. When his mother returned home that day, she wanted to talk to Jack. Knowing the purpose of her visit to the school, Jack thought his mother would punish him for befriending(以朋友方式對待) those bad guys. To his surprise, his mother was not angry with him at all. She wanted to hear her sons side of the story. So Jack told his mother about what he knew of Simon and Peter. Simons parents were badly ill; Peters father had lost his job. They both seemed to Jack to be normal kids. Jacks mother thought for a moment, then went on to say that she was OK with her son playing with them and that she and her son should think of ways to help these kids. Soon Jacks mum introduced some part-time jobs to Simon and Peter, which they accepted. She believed in her son and cared about those who were less lucky. Jacks basketball friends and he have left for different places, but they still keep in touch. He knows Peter is now a manager of a local bank. Simon is currently a freshman at a university. Sadly, it is impossible to get together to play basketball again, but whenever they get on the phone, they talk about it all the time. ( )1. After Jacks mother came home from school, she .
