Unit 8 When is your birthday? Free talk Based on the words about months, ask Ss to talk about their birthday or their parents’ or friends’ birthday in groups, so as to review the words and sentences that have learnt in the last period. Step 2 Presentation 1. Present new words. Guide Ss to summarize the rules of the ordinal numbers and try to spell them. 2. Present 2a: Listen and repeat 1) Ask Ss to repeat the new words about ordinal numbers with the tape player. 2) Ss read the new words twice together. 3. Listening—— Work on 2b 1) Ask Ss to listen and circle the umbers they hear in 2a, so as to check their recognition of these new words. 2) Check the answers. 4. Work on 2c 1) Ask students to look at the columns in 2c. Point out the three columns: Name, Month and Date.
