2019-2020年人教版高中英語(yǔ)選修七Unit 2《Robots》(Period 2 Language study)word教案 Teaching aims 1.To learn the useful expressions and sentence structures. 2.To enable students to use language points both orally and in written forms. Teaching procedures Step 1 Learning words and phrases 1.desire n.渴望;欲望;渴求;vt.希望得到;想要 Do you think it is possible for a robot to have its own needs and desires? 你認(rèn)為機(jī)器人有可能有自己的需求和愿望嗎? [拓展] (1)desire作名詞時(shí),可接不定式或者for短語(yǔ)作定語(yǔ),還可以接that引導(dǎo)的同位語(yǔ)從句。 (2)desire作及物動(dòng)詞時(shí)的常見(jiàn)搭配: desire sth./to do sth./sb.to do sth./that... [注意] desire作名詞后接同位語(yǔ)從句以及作動(dòng)詞后跟賓語(yǔ)從句時(shí),從句常常用虛擬語(yǔ)氣,即“(should)+動(dòng)詞原形”結(jié)構(gòu)。 The teacher desires me to e to school on time. =The teacher desires that I should e to school on time. 2.test out 試驗(yàn);考驗(yàn) It was going to be_tested_out_by Larry wife,Claire. 它將由拉里的妻子克萊爾來(lái)試驗(yàn)。 [拓展] test sb.on sth.就某事(物)測(cè)試某人 test sth.on sb./sth.在某人(物)身上做試驗(yàn) test sb.for sth.為某事檢查某人 Mr.Li will test us on_ grammar next week. 下周李老師要檢測(cè)我們的語(yǔ)法。 I am going to_test you for diabetes. 我將要檢查你是否有糖尿病。 They have decided to test_the medicine on cats. 他們已決定在貓身上試驗(yàn)這種藥。 3.a(chǎn)larm vt.使某人警覺(jué);使驚恐;n.警報(bào);驚恐 However,when she first saw the robot,she felt alarmed. 然而當(dāng)她第一次看到那個(gè)機(jī)器人時(shí),她害怕了。 Please give/raise/sound the alarm when you are trapped in danger. 當(dāng)你處于危險(xiǎn)境地時(shí),請(qǐng)發(fā)出警報(bào)。 [拓展] be alarmed at/by擔(dān)心,害怕 give/raise/sound the alarm發(fā)警報(bào) in alarm驚恐地 4.sympathy n.同情心 Claire thought it was ridiculous to be offered sympathy by a robot. 克萊爾覺(jué)得,機(jī)器人向她表示同情,這有點(diǎn)荒唐可笑。 [拓展] (1)have/feel sympathy for sb.同情某人 play on sb.s sympathy利用某人的同情心 be in sympathy with sb./sth.贊同/支持某人/某事 (2)sympathize v.表示同情,憐憫 sympathetic adj.有同情心的 I have_a_lot_of_sympathy_for him;he brought up his two children on his own. 我非常同情他,他獨(dú)自把兩個(gè)孩子養(yǎng)大。 Youd better not play_on_Toms_sympathy.Its not polite. 你最好不要利用湯姆的同情心,那是不禮貌的。 We are_in_sympathy_with_your stand on lower taxes. 我們支持你關(guān)于減稅的立場(chǎng)。 5.favour n.喜愛(ài);恩惠;vt.喜愛(ài),偏袒 As a_favour Tony promised to help Claire make herself smarter and her home more elegant. 托尼為讓克萊爾高興,答應(yīng)幫助她,使她變得更漂亮,使她的家變得更高雅大方。 A teacher must not show favour to one student more than another. 教師不應(yīng)該偏愛(ài)某一個(gè)孩子。 Personally,I favour the latter one. 就我個(gè)人而言,我喜歡后者。 [拓展] in favour of支持,贊同 do sb.a favour/do a favour for sb.幫某人一個(gè)忙 ask sb.a favour/ask a favour of sb.請(qǐng)某人幫個(gè)忙 Are you_in_favour_of_the decision? 你支持這個(gè)決定嗎? Now that you are not busy,why not do_him_a_favour/_do_a_favour_for_him? 既然你不忙,為什么不幫他個(gè)忙呢? 6.a(chǎn)cpany vt.陪伴;伴舞 acpany sb.to someplace陪伴某人去某地 acpany sb.at/on...用……為某人伴奏 acpany sb.in doing sth.陪某人做某事 注意:不能用acpany sb.to do sth.結(jié)構(gòu) As he was not allowed to acpany_her_to_the_shops,he wrote out a list of items for her. 因?yàn)榭巳R爾不讓托尼陪她去商店,所以托尼就給她寫(xiě)了份購(gòu)物清單。 She asked her teacher to acpany_her_on/at the piano at the concert. 她請(qǐng)她的老師在音樂(lè)會(huì)上為她鋼琴伴奏。 Will you please_acpany_me_in travelling to Shanghai on business? 請(qǐng)陪我去上海出差好嗎? 7.ring up 給……電話 When the clerk at the counter was rude to her,she rang_Tony_up and told the clerk to speak to him. 當(dāng)站臺(tái)的售貨員對(duì)她粗魯時(shí),她就打電話給托尼,讓售貨員同托尼說(shuō)話。 I will ring_you_up as soon as he arrives. 他一來(lái)我就給你打電話。 [拓展] call sb.(up);phone/telephone sb.;give sb.a call/a ring/a phone call打電話給某人 call/ring back回電話 ring off/hang up掛斷電話 hold on別掛斷 8.turn around=turn round 轉(zhuǎn)向,回轉(zhuǎn) As she turned_around,there stood Gladys Claffern. 她一轉(zhuǎn)身,就看到格拉迪斯克拉芬站在那兒。 The students began to whisper when the teacher turned_around/round. 老師一轉(zhuǎn)身,學(xué)生們就開(kāi)始竊竊私語(yǔ)。 [拓展] turn against 反對(duì) turn back 折回,掉回頭 turn down 拒絕 turn in 上交 turn out 結(jié)果是;生產(chǎn) turn to求助于;翻到(某頁(yè)) turn up 開(kāi)大,出現(xiàn) So far,she has turned_him_down_three times. 到目前為止,她已經(jīng)拒絕了他三次了。 The stranger we met yesterday turned_out to be Toms father. 昨天,我們遇到的那個(gè)陌生人原來(lái)是湯姆的父親。 He didnt know who to turn to. 他不知道向誰(shuí)去求助。 9.declare vt.宣布,聲明 She cried out “Tony” and then heard him declare that he didnt want to leave her the next day and that he felt more than just the desire to please her. 她大叫一聲“托尼”,然后聽(tīng)到托尼一本正經(jīng)地說(shuō),明天他不想離開(kāi)她,而且他并不滿足僅僅使她開(kāi)心。 declare for/against sb./sth.聲明支持/反對(duì)某人/某事 declare sb./sth.(to be)+n./adj.宣布/宣稱(chēng)……為…… declare sth./that...宣布;宣稱(chēng);聲明 declare war on/against...向……宣戰(zhàn) He decided to_declare_for_the North. 他決定聲明支持北方。 The doctor finally declared_that the woman was dead. 醫(yī)生最后宣布該婦女死亡。 The use of certain chemicals_has_been_declared_illegal_recently. 近來(lái)某些化學(xué)品的使用被宣布為非法。 They have now declared_war_on/against drug dealers in the area. 他們現(xiàn)已對(duì)該區(qū)的毒販宣戰(zhàn)。 10.leave...alone 不管;別惹;讓……一個(gè)人待著;和……單獨(dú)在一起 She shouted “Leave_me_alone” and ran to her bed. 她高聲喊:“讓我獨(dú)自待一會(huì)兒!”然后就跑上床。 Why not leave_him_alone? 為什么不讓他一個(gè)人待一會(huì)兒? [拓展] leave...alone=let...alone leave aside 擱置一邊 leave...behind 遺忘;把……拋棄在后面 leave off中斷,停止 leave out 遺漏,省去;不提及 leave over 剩下;殘留 [提醒] let alone 還可以表示“更不用說(shuō)”的意思,而leave...alone不能。 Lets start again from where we left off. 讓我們從中斷處重新開(kāi)始。 Mike left out a zero in the telephone number. 邁克在電話號(hào)碼中遺漏了一個(gè)零。 11.His name was Tony and he seemed more like a human than a machine. 他的名字叫托尼,與其說(shuō)他看上去像一臺(tái)機(jī)器,倒不如說(shuō)更像一個(gè)人。 more...than...與其說(shuō)……倒不如說(shuō)…… He is more_my friend than my teacher. 與其說(shuō)他是我的老師倒不如說(shuō)他是我的朋友。 The boy is more_lazy than_stupid. 與其說(shuō)這男孩笨倒不如說(shuō)他懶。 [拓展] more than多于;超過(guò);不僅僅 not more than不超過(guò) no more than僅僅=only Mr.Zhang is more_than our teacher and he is our friend. 張老師不僅僅是我們的老師,還是我們的朋友。 Please dont be so angry.After all,she is_no_more_than_a child. 請(qǐng)不要如此生氣,畢竟她還只是一個(gè)孩子。 12.She cried out “Tony” and then heard him declare that he didnt want to leave her the next day and that he felt more than just the desire to please her. 她大叫一聲托尼,然后托尼一本正經(jīng)地說(shuō),第二天他不想離開(kāi)她,而且他并不滿足僅僅使她開(kāi)心。 這是一個(gè)復(fù)合句,declare that...please her作hear sb.do結(jié)構(gòu)中的賓語(yǔ)補(bǔ)足語(yǔ),其中declare后面又接了兩個(gè)that引導(dǎo)的賓語(yǔ)從句,第一個(gè)that可以省略,而第二個(gè)that則不能省略。 Id like to tell you (that) he is too young and that_he isnt fit for the job. 我想告訴你他太年輕不適合這個(gè)工作。 Step 2 Using words and phrases Do Exercises 1 and 2 on Page 13 in Learning about Language.
